personal transporter
A personal transporter is a motorized vehicle used by individuals for transport or as a piece of sports equipment in freestyle sports. They are usually compact and can travel at a low speed of 25 km/h. Personal transporters are most visibly used by urban dwellers and include scooters, skateboards, Segways, and electric bicycles.
Personal transporters use electric motors, digital sensors, and self-balancing gyroscopic system for changing direction and balancing. Earlier personal transporters used gasoline engines and were more of a standing scooter. Today, they have increased in variety to include the hybrids types that have a computer-controlled system and not only used on land, but sea and air. The major drawback is that personal transporters can only carry a single person at a time.
