Posted by Tom Lee on
There are some pretty spectacular MTB riding spots across the world, and many are destined to be explored on eMTB’s. With this in mind, we’ve put together a very short list of some of the places that we think you should visit if you LOVE e-mountain biking.
Finale Ligure, Italy
Finding fame from its annual Enduro World Series race, Finale Ligure has become one of the most famous MTB and eMTB locations in the world. Packed with fantastic, well-maintained trails and a breath-taking landscape, it’s no wonder this location is down as one to visit. As a place that encourages e-mountain biking, Finale Ligure has plenty of local eMTB guides who are ready to share with you, some of the best assisted riding routes around. Finale caters for all skill levels with easy and intermediate routes that offer a glimpse of the sea and a chance to take in the scenery, to the complex ‘Supergroppo trail’ that was originally built for the Enduro World Series final and offers a thrilling ride for anyone who dares.
La Palma, Canary Islands
A small island located just off the African coast; La Palma is often coined as one of the best winter riding spots around. With unique routes that take you on journeys from eucalyptus and pine tree forests to jungle like greenery and roots, La Palma will certainly keep you on your toes. Steep climbs (that make you thankful for your motor) lead up to high peaks from which the much-anticipated descents can begin. One of these trails guides you from Roque de los Muchachos to Tazacorte beach on a journey of speed traps and steep drops, making for a very exciting ride. It’s La Palma’s volcanic status that helped to create this steep mountainous terrain and in turn, put this island on our list.
Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park, South Tyrol
With its awe-inspiring, unspoilt scenery, Fanes-Sennes-Braies offers picturesque rides like no other. Impressive rugged peaks and gushing streams truly immerse you in nature. The Dolomites offer a huge network of trails over around 250km, including both singletracks and gravel tracks. It must be said, this place is not one for the faint hearted. With its steep climbs and fast descents, many of the trails here offer even experienced riders the chance to put their skills to the test. Fanes-Sennes-Braies also lets you explore the limits of your bike as you’ll need a powerful motor and sturdy frame to conquer this rugged terrain. If you’re up for the challenge, this surreal landscape is definitely worth a visit.
So, what have we learnt? Well for one, many classic MTB locations are really well set up for eMTB’s and even boast e-bike equipped guides. Secondly, there are great options for you to ride all year round, there’s no need to let the weather stop you! Finally, Europe seems to be a great continent for eMTB riding; it’s literally bursting with fantastic trails! As e-mountain biking becomes more popular year on year, we wonder where the next eMTB trail might pop up.
