The New Age Of Affordable Electric Motorcross : The Sur-Ron 60v 32Ah eDirt Bike

Posted by Tom Lee on

Karl Gesslein / December 12, 2017 When it comes to dirt bikes I have to admit, I’m not a fan. When I was in my early teens we used to go out and jump a tiny 100cc bike off a giant pile of dirt in my friend’s backyard (both of his parents were state troopers). The bike was a two-stroke monster that was loud and obnoxious and you had to rebuild the carb on it every 50 hours or so of riding. What a royal pain in the ass. I’ve sworn off two strokes and decided there is absolutely no place for them...

Whoa Boy : 60 Tooth Luna Sprocket Turns The Sur-Ron eMoto Into An Accidental Wheelie Machine

Posted by Tom Lee on

Karl Gesslein / June 24, 2018 It’s now been 6 months on my Sur-Ron Light-Bee eMotocross bike. Stock from Lunacycle the bike easily gets over 40mph and it rides about like you think a 75cc dirt bike should. If you get rid of the limiter and put it in sport mode even an amateur like myself can easily wheelie the featherweight 119lb motorcycle. The problem is that in low speeds while trying to ride twisty singletrack the bike just doesn’t produce enough torque to be that much fun. The bike doesn’t have any kind of transmission and it’s geared from the factory...

My Dirty Cheap eUTV : One Year On A Sur-Ron Light Bee Electric Motocross Bike

Posted by Tom Lee on

Karl Gesslein / December 5, 2018 This is an article that has been bouncing around in the back of my brain for almost a year now. When I first got my Sur-Ron Light Bee (Firefly) Electric Motocross bike I expected that I was going to use it for single-track riding on trails and in the snow. After trying it out in the snow and on the trails I decided that I preferred my quiver of electric fat bikes for a number of different reasons that I’ll explain later in the article. What I didn’t expect was that I was going to use...

Everything I Own Is Now Obsolete : Christini AWD Fat-E 5 Ultra Max 2XL Snowshoe Ebike

Posted by Tom Lee on

Karl Gesslein / March 5, 2019 Last winter I had the pleasure of reviewing a Christini Fat-E BBSHD AWD ebike for about 2 weeks. For those of you who know me, you know I rarely review anything I don’t throw my leg over and thrash in the woods with. I fell in love with the Christini AWD system and told Steve that if he came up with an ebike that would hold 2XL Snow Shoes and my Ludicrous Ultra Max that I would buy it. Steve is the kind of guy who listens to his customers so he reworked the front fork to support...

Shoot For The Moon – Luna Apollo Ultra Max Reviewed

Posted by Tom Lee on

Karl Gesslein / March 22, 2019 Well, it’s been almost 50 years since we first set foot on the moon with Apollo 11. Growing up I have always been fascinated by the history of manned space travel, so the Apollo missions hold a very special place in my heart. Whenever I feel frustrated with technology I just remember that a bunch of guys went to the moon using calculations done on slide rules with a flight computer that was less powerful than a modern calculator. Luna has been refining the Apollo for almost 2 years now. Finally, they are releasing what they...
